01-04-2009 A baby raccoon was found walking down the sidewalk on St. Road 52. The baby was crying his little
eyes out as loud as he could as he was looking for someone to help him. His home had just been destroyed
and his family was gone. Concern citizens of Pasco County rescued the little fella. An assessment was done.
He is a male approx. Eight weeks old. He had no wounds or marks but was extremely dehydrated and starving
to death. He had only a day or so to live. He is taking small amounts of formula every two hours. We named
him Miracle. 02-16-2009 Miracle is doing fine and growing up. He has a fat belly now. 04-24-2010 Miracle was all
set to be released and did not want to go. He is back home with us now.

01-25-2009 We received a call from a concern citizen about an injured raccoon. When we arrived, the raccoon
was laying in front of the house and you could see the injury. He was able to get up and run to the next street
over, with us behind him. We were able to corner him and secure him in a cage. He gave no aggressiveness
during the chase or after capture. He was hurting. An assessment was done. It was a male approx four years
old and had a open deep wound about the size of your fist to his shoulder. He had other minor scraps to his
head and body. We rushed him to Animal Emergency Of Pasco where they rushed him onto the operating table.
The doctor said it looks like some type of dog or animal attack. They work on him over an hour cleaning the
wound and putting in over 50 stitches to close it. The picture showing is Laurie and Lucky. We are giving him
antibiotics for infection. He is here at the facility resting comfortably. 02-01-2009 Infection has set in and Lucky
has taken a turn for the worst. 02-06-2009 It is with great sadness in our hearts to inform you that Lucky has
pass away during the night. Lucky has only been with us a short time, but we got to know him and we cried. May
you rest in heaven my little friend.




02-23-2009 We received a call from a concern citizen of Hernando County about a baby squirrel. The baby made
it to her front door and started crying. We did a assessment on the little guy. He was cold, dehydrated and
starving for food. He had no open cuts or wounds. We brought him home and he was placed on a heating pad.
We started a formula of food for him and he eat. The second time for feeding he put his little hands around the
syringe and didn't want to let go. The concern citizen named him Squeaky. 03-01-2009 Squeaky is doing fine and
gaining weight. 04-17-2009 Squeaky has grown up and has been released.
02-21-2009 A Pigeon was found and brought in by a concern citizen. It appeared the pigeon was attacked by a
hawk. An assessment was done and we found small wounds on her side. She also seems to be a little
dehydrated. Antibiotic creams were put on the wounds. 03-08-2009 The pigeon seems to have made a full
recovery. The wounds have healed and she is eating, drinking and doing fine.

03-09-2009 A call came in from concern citizens that a baby raccoon was in their attic. They watch as the mother
raccoon removed two babies but did not come for this one. They left it alone for three days hoping the mother
would come back. An assessment was done and the baby was hungry, dehydrated but had no open wounds.
She was very young and still had the blue eye's. She is eating and resting now. We want to say thank you to
the concern citizens for the passion and love for the wildlife and this little girl. They were willing to tear their roof
apart to make sure this baby had a chance to survive. A camera was even set up in the attic to track the babies
movement. Because of people like you, this little one is going to make it and we at Florida Wildlife Alternatives
are so impress of what you have done to save this little girl. They named the baby Little Biddy. 06-29-2009 Little
Bitty is doing fine and has been moved to and outside housing.

03-07-2009 A baby rabbit was brought in by a concern citizen that found her in their yard. They thought it would
be best to bring her here because of the dogs. A assessment was done and we found no open wounds or
marks. She looks healthy and is eating. Update 04-01-2009 Baby rabbit is growing up and doing fine. Update:
04-27-2009 The baby rabbit has grown up and has been released.
03-25-2009 A call came from concern citizens in New Port Richy about four baby opossum's. The mother was hit
my a car but manage to crawl out of the road to the grass to save her babies. The mother died. An assessment
was done. They are about three weeks old. There were no visible or open wounds. They were removed from
the mother quickly and appear to be in great shape. They are responding to our formula. We will keep you
updated. 07-21-2009 These little guys have grown up and have been released. Be safe my little friends.
03-28-2009 Concern citizens from Pasco County found a baby raccoon. An assessment was done. The baby is
less than 24 hours old. It was very cold when we received it. It is a male. We place it on a heating pad and also
a little stuffy animal for it to snuggle close to. We are given antibiotics being so young in age. He is taking
formula. We named him Copper. 05-18-2009 Little Copper is growing up and doing fine.
04-01-2009 A baby raccoon was found by concern citizens from Pasco County in their yard. An assessment was
done. The baby is a male, about a two weeks old and was a little dehydrated. There were no visual wounds or
marks. She is suckling small amounts of formula. We named her CB. 09-07-2009 CB is growing up and has been
moved to and outside housing.
04-01-2009 A baby armadillo was found on the side of the road by concern citizens of Pasco County. An
assessment was done and the baby seems to be healthily with no marks or wounds. It is eating and we take it
out side and it roots around. What a pretty baby. Her name is Rhino. 05-18-2009 The little baby is growing up
and doing fine. She will be released shortly. 06-08-2009 The day has come for Rhino to be released. Good luck
old buddy.
04-01-2009 A baby opossum was found by concern citizens of Pasco on Grand Av. An assessment was done
and the baby was a little dehydrated and had no visual wounds or marks. This is the second baby opossum the
citizens have found. The mother was not around. Rehabs Rob and Julie picked the babies up and brought them
to us for care. This little guy has grown up and has been released.
04-01-2009 A Gopher turtle was brought to us by concern citizens of Pasco. They found the turtle in their yard.
Someone painted the turtle's shell with obscene marks. They also painted the lips and toe nails. These people
should be found, arrested and put in jail. The turtle seems to be doing fine and is eating grass. 04-08-2009 The
turtle has escape our holding pen and has made a home on our property. The paint is off his lips and toe nails.
It looks like the paint is starting to rub off from the sand also.



04-07-2009 Three baby rabbits were rescued by a concern citizen of Pinellas County. We received the call at
6:00pm. The citizen was so concern and upset that these babies might die, we traveled nearly 100 miles round
trip to pick them up. An assessment was done. They were about three weeks old. Their were no marks or open
wounds. They seem to be in good health. They are on a heating pad and resting. 07-18-2009 Everyone had a
good time here at the facility but they grew up and have been released.

04-13-2009 A call came in from the Spring Hill Area about a injured raccoon. We went out and captured the little
fella and assessment was down. It was a young female approx. Ten months old. She had a large open wound
around the shoulder, a wound to her front foot and back leg. She was in pain. The wounds had larva around
them. We flushed the wounds, gave her pain medication and antibiotics. It looks like she got into a fight with
another animal. We rush her to Dr. Szempruch of Three Oaks Veterinary where she was put to sleep. The
infection had spread thru out body. May you rest in peace my little friend.




04-20-2009 A water duck was brought to a Veterinary place in Holiday by a concern citizen. The duck was
disoriented and possible wing problem. A x-ray was done and we are waiting for results. The duck is resting and
eating. Update: 04-24-2008 X-rays should no broken wing. The duck had round worm and a small respiratory
problem. These type of ducks do not to well in captivity. We treated her and she has been released. She went
into the water, flapped her wings, dove under water and came up and flew alway.

04-21-2009 (With respect to the person who brought the baby squirrel to us.) A call came in about a baby
squirrel. A concern citizen from Oldsmar found the little critter. He drove sixty miles round trip to bring her to us.
He name it Sparky. An assessment was done. The baby was very dehydrated, hungry and afraid. We found no
open wounds. She is approx five weeks old and is a female. She is sipping gator aid and will not let go of
Laurie's hand knowing she is safe. We want to say thank you to the concern citizen for saving this little baby
girl. Please come back to visit us. 05-18-2009 Sparky did very well to treatment and has been released.




04-25-2009 Concern citizens brought a squirrel to the facility that was hit by a car. An assessment was done.
The squirrel was dragging his back legs but was alert. This is a sign of spinal cord injury. We will keep him
comfortable until x-rays of his spinal cord if done. 05-01-2009 X-rays were performed and found that the little guy
has broken his back in two places. He was put to sleep to stop his suffering. We want to say thank you to the
citizens for caring and bringing this little fella to us.

05-01-2009 More rabbits are coming in. Concern citizens brought in two more baby rabbits. They seem to be in
great shape. We put them with the others as they are the same age. They all are eating and doing well. We will
keep you updated. 07-18-2009 These little guys have grown up and have been released.
05-03-2009 A call came in at 9:30 pm from the Hernando Sheriffs Dept about a fox being hit by a car on Spring
Hill Road. Concern citizens of Hernando County watch in horror as the young female fox tried to cross the busy
road. They called 911. We arrived shortly after but the little girl had passed away from her injuries. We want to
say were sorry to the couple who witness this. We see and hear it all the time. These animals have no place to
go while they search for their food. Every day we are destroying more of their habitat. May you rest in peace
my little girl.
05-15-2009 A baby opossum was found walking to Florida Wildlife Alternatives. She made it under our gate and
was walking down our dirt driveway to the facility. She was very weak, dehydrated, cold from the rain and
hungry. We picked her up and put her on a heating pad and gave some liquids. I guess she new where to go
for help. We will keep you updated.
05-10-2009 Concern citizens of Pasco County called and said they found a baby opossum in their yard. They
lived on our street.(Sherman Drive) The baby was dehydrated. We put her on a heating pad and started her
on some small amounts of gator aid. 07-18-2009 This little critter has been released.
